Nashville, TN

If you ever find yourself in Nashville, don't be surprised to hear things like "sweet as pie" and "be still my heart."  It's a city of friendly people, delicious food, and cheap beer.

Below you'll find some of our favorite spots!

  • The Parthenon - 2500 West End Avenue

The Parthenon is a full-scale replica of the Athenian original. It's more of a weird curiosity than a must-see, but there's free parking and the surrounding Centennial Park is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon.

  • Mas Tacos Por Favor - 732 Mcferrin Ave

Tacos! Mas Tacos is in a suitably dingy (but charming) building in East Nashville. All the tacos here are $3 and they range from chicken (with charred onions and jalapeños) to quinoa and sweet potato (with cabbage and roasted tomatillo salsa). And don't miss the aguas frescas. I had the pineapple cilantro.

What to order: Go with a friend and order one of everything and an horchata/coffee.

  • Barista Parlor - 519 Gallatin Ave

We stopped here for a post-lunch pick-me-up. Barista Parlor is a coffee shop built inside an old auto repair garage. On warm days the garage doors open, revealing a fun naturally lit space filled with young creative professionals. Here you'll find fancy coffee brewing techniques like pour-overs, ChemEx, and siphons.

What to order: ChemEx of their coffee of the day.

  • Prince's Chicken - 123 Ewing Dr.

If you only have time to do one thing in Nashville, make it Prince's Chicken and order it hot. It'll hurt and you'll be sweating, but you won't be able to stop.

What to order: 2 piece, dark. Side of pickles.

  • Broadway (b/w 5th and 2nd Ave.)

Broadway is the main music and bar drag in Nashville and it's where tourists, locals, bachelorette parties, buskers and homeless dudes converge into one giant, happy party. There are over 25 bars packed into a 3 block stretch and every single one of them has a live band playing. It's worth going just to hear the noise and watch the people.

    Where to go:
-Robert's Western World for Texas swing and grilled cheeses
-Tin Roof for fun bands, dancing, and shots in medicine cups
-Paradise Trailer Park for the friendly bartenders and the astroturf floors.
